Satire in the Age of Letters and Technology- more than just a pinch of it.
A new year ushers in new hopes, aspirations and desires, but as far as the 20 somethings in Delhi are concerned, one thing always remains constant – the much anticipated college fests. No college in Delhi University makes a compromise when it comes to making their annual festival a success, so much so that the preparations for the same always begin a lot before the colleges actually re-open post the winter break. With huge amounts of money involved, students make sure that the event is well publicised, attended, cherished and appreciated.
Lady Shri Ram College For Women also has high expectations from their annual cultural fest – Tarang, which is going to be a 3-day event from 3-5 February 2012. The fest, like every passing year, promises to be grander than ever!
Not only it is a chance for boys to get inside an institution that boasts of the prettiest (and also the smartest) females in the capital, Tarang ensures that even the girls enjoy every bit of it. This year, the fest shall commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of the Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore. The first day’s highlight would be a ‘battle of the bands’; the second day- a stand up comedy show; and the culmination of the 3-day event would be with a DJ Night. With a host of competitive events covering almost all fields one can think of- from music, dance, public speaking, creative writing, fine arts, dramatics, quiz, film and photography, pottery to informal contests like Crossword, Treasure Hunt and Minute To Win It, Tarang 2012 promises to cater to everybody’s interests and strives to make itself one of the most memorable events one could ever attend.
The Food Fest at Tarang takes care of the all the food junkies as it offers a variety of cuisines by the best brands in Delhi- all in one place. One can find stalls of 34, Chowranghee Lane, Brown Sugar, Mocha, Sweet Disposition among several others. Shopaholics cannot be forgotten and have a lot to look forward to with merchandise by brands like Alma Mater up on offer. If in case all the stall-hopping leaves you feeling tired, LSR also has all the provisions to help you relax during Tarang by providing you with a My Salon Bar’s stall which would be setting up its therapeutic chairs complete with mood-lighting to help you feel refreshed in a jiffy.
Being a first year student, I am a lot more than excited to experience the magic that LSR has managed to put in their fest.Fests, or so I believe are supposed to create a season of euphoria and give people a reason to celebrate every time they come.Tarang’s vibrancy and felicity cannot possibly be ignored owing to the fact that it has always been the most awaited fest in the university every single year.Owing to its dedication to creativity , Tarang has and will always prove to be an epitome of festive spirit and youthful dynamism.
